Commonwealth Day – 2017

Monday 13th March 2017 was Commonwealth Day.  Checkley Parish knew they would struggle to top last years event however, we were not willing to let Commonwealth Day slide by without at least raising the flag.

The flag was raised at 10am on Tean High Street, by Checkley Parish Council’s 2016/2017 Chairman Cllr Alan Hulme and guest of honour former Councillor, Pat McGarry.  They also had help from local students from Great Wood Primary School and St Thomas’ RC Primary School, along with representatives from various organisation in the community such as: Youth Club, Great Wood Hall Committee, Girl Guides, local churches, Tean Traders, Royal British Legion and various others.
